What does it take to be a caregiver?

From training workshops to opportunities for advancement, we provide our residential specialists with the resources they need to reach new heights in their career path and provide quality services to our clients with specialized needs. Learn more about being residential specialist for Buckeye Residential Solutions from the words of some of our employees.

“I get the training I need to feel prepared.”

At Buckeye Residential Solutions, we don’t just send our employees off to their appointments and hope that they do a good job. We provide the training and support they need to feel confident and prepared when caring for individuals with disabilities and co-occurring conditions.

All new Buckeye employees receive MUI, OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, First Aid and Medication Administration training in addition to on-site, client specific training. To enable the growth of our employees’ skill sets, we also provide opportunities for continuous training. Skill areas for these training workshops include crisis management, behavior, mental health and more, led by experts in their respective fields – including Cleveland Clinic psychologists, behavioral therapists, and Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities trainers.

“Working for Buckeye is more than just a job.”

It’s an opportunity to establish a solid career path. Our employees have opportunities for advancement that are uncommon in the industry. After 1 year of experience to 5+ years, our residential specialists and other employees are eligible for lead, house manager and program coordinator positions. Through Buckeye Residential Solutions’ Employee Development Program, we work one-on-one with our employees to help identify their professional goals and establish a course by which they can accomplish them.

Our Employee Development Program helps ensure that our promotions and training opportunities are aligned with the professional growth of our employees. Promoting from within not only enables our employees to advance in their career path, but gives our company a wealth of experience and familiarity that we know it takes to provide quality, consistent services for our clients with disabilities.

“Putting a smile on my clients’ faces is the best part of my day.”

Even though a smile isn’t guaranteed with every customer interaction and each day may come with its own set of challenges, one thing always remains the same – Buckeye Residential Solutions provides valued services that protect our clients’ independence. Our residential specialists are compassionate individuals who take pride in providing care and support for individuals with a wide variety of needs, including Developmental Disabilities, Psychiatric and Behavioral Disorders, and Mental Health Disorders.

From coordinating activities and taking care of meals, medication administration and hygiene needs, to simply communicating and spending time with our clients, our residential specialists are caring, patient, and attentive to the needs of our diverse client base. While this field is not for everyone, it can be a very rewarding career opportunity for the right candidates.

“I love the flexibility of my job.”

Whether you have little ones at home, are going to school, or have other reasons why the typical 9-5 just won’t work for you, residential specialist positions at Buckeye Residential Solutions offer the flexible schedule you need. Buckeye Residential Solutions serves two communities in northern Ohio through our Ravenna and Toledo offices, giving employment opportunities to a large footprint of individuals interested in providing valuable support within their own neighborhoods and cities! For both our part-time and full-time residential specialist positions, our employees don’t report to our offices every morning and instead go where they are needed – directly to their client appointments.

If a career in disability services sounds like it could be a great fit for you, we’d love for you to join our team!
