A Residential Specialist
It takes a special kind of person to become a high-quality Residential Specialist at Buckeye Residential.
Over the years, we have observed the unique characteristics of people who become successful as residential specialists. Does the following describe you?
You are independent. You don’t want to be cooped up in an office or hidden behind a cubicle. You like to be face to face with people – helping them live their best lives despite their having exceptional challenges.
You are a people person. They enjoy spending their time among people – forging meaningful connections – helping others face their exceptional challenges in life with courage, laughter and emotional support.
You want to help – and will accept support, too. Buckeye is founded by individuals who have spent years working in homes, so we know what it’s like. That’s why Buckeye promises to support the in-home residential specialists with an open line of communication with our experienced managers to give advice, encouragement and answers to any questions or situations you encounter.
No experience is needed. We can train you. All that you have to offer is a passion for people, the ability to do the tasks, and a willingness to learn.
Day to Day Work
For many residential specialists at Buckeye Residential, there is no “typical” day at work. This keeps the work shift varied and interesting.
Part of your days may be engaged with casual interaction – friendly conversation, watching TV or movies, playing games, listening to music – moments of real human connection. Just keeping your client company in a worthy, dignified way.
Completing Everyday Tasks
Other parts of your work days will find you doing any of the following tasks:
- Health care and personal hygiene
- Meal preparations and shopping
- Household tasks such as cleaning and laundry
- Recreation, social and leisure time skills
- Transportation as required
- Other duties as assigned.
No matter what caring, supportive activities you do to meet your client’s needs, you will also maintain accurate records as required by Buckeye Residential Solutions and industry regulations.
We will thoroughly train you in how to keep these records.
Working Toward ISP Objectives
Each of our clients will have their own Individual Service Plan (ISP) that we create in accordance with their needs. This plan includes objectives. Part of your job will be to help clients meet the objectives of their Individual Service Plans with activities.
Enhancing the Lives of People with Challenges
Overall, our residential specials engage in tasks and activities that enhance our clients’ physical, emotional, intellectual, communication, and social skills according to the individual’s needs, abilities, and choices.
